Birthday Itinerary Input?

I am planning Colt's 1st birthday party and don't know if it would be better to do the whole cake thing first then open presents OR presents then cake? We are eating lunch at the party, so do I need a break between lunch and cake for presents?? Deep, I know, but I like to have an itinerary! Suggestions would be much loved!

Hey! Well what we did at Abby's party is let everyone get their food and while they were eating, we let Abby open her presents. Then after that we did the birthday cake and then let her play. :) I think it worked great and went quicker than some parties that seem to last forever. :)

Ha Ha! I remember thinking long and hard about this for William's 1st birthday.

For William's we did lunch first but I got William's plate first so he was finished eating before lots of adults. So we did his cake next which didn't take very long. Then while everyone else got cake he opened presents. For Andrew's I did just family so we had lunch then did presents then went back and did cake.

Both ways went perfect and I don't think you can go wrong with whatever you decide. AND I'm quite certain your cakes will be so yummy and beautiful!!

We ate first, then cake (with quick sink bath and change of clothes), then presents. The ones that wanted to leave could go on without missing anything and the doting grandparents were able to stay the forever amount of time it took her to open her presents. That worked well for us, but with that cutie Colt to stare at, nobody will care what you do! :)

If you're having lunch, I'd think the presents would be good to do in between.
Have fun!!!
