Holly Jolly Christmas

Grammy came to town for a week to help me chase Colt and get our new house painted and unpacked. THANK YOU, GRAMMY!
We went to see Santa in Sundance Square last weekend. Colt did really well and never cried. He wasn't too sure about him though.

Love the nose face he makes! He's like, "What's up with this guy?"

AND we did not realize that when we went downtown to meet Santa it was also the day of the motorcycle rally! There were 5000+ motorcycle dudes and babes!! They meet in Fort Worth all with a toy for Toys for Tots, and then caravan to the Cowboys Stadium to drop them off. People were parked up and down I30 to watch. Colt loved seeing them and they all seemed to love Colt too! VROOM! VROOM!

Christmas

This Christmas has been the most emotional and convicting one for me yet. Getting to spend this past year with my precious baby boy has made me think so much about Mary and wondering what it would have been like to partake in raising God's son. I cannot even imagine that she had to give birth in such unfavorable conditions and lay her sweet baby boy in a manger. I often wonder what Jesus was like as a baby. I suppose he cried because he was cutting teeth or had a dirty diaper...which seems unreal, but is true. Then the part that makes me fall to me knees, and tears running down my face right now, He gave his only son to die a public, painful, and humiliating death....all for us. And here we are running around worried about buying presents and cooking and everything else Christmas seems to bring now....I wonder how God must feel? I look at Colt every day and wonder how God could do such a thing, letting His son die on a cross, for such sinners like me???!! I cannot begin to fathom giving up Colt to save someone else, ESPECIALLY the way Jesus died. I would die before I EVER saw my son be nailed to a cross. CAN YOU IMAGINE??????!!! Poor Mary was just sobbing at the foot of the cross. How painful for a mom. God's love is unfathomable and amazing. I can see how some people find the story so hard to believe. Becky's song is a good description of how I am feeling this holiday. (If you haven't seen it search "Where is the Line to See Jesus?" on YouTube.)

I just think it is so ironic that on the day set aside to celebrate Jesus' birth, we are so focused on material things. Of course I LOVE giving gifts, I just wish that it wasn't so overdone and overshadowing of the true meaning of Christmas. It's frustrating that so many of us are on a budget, but still feel pressured to spend money we shouldn't on gifts for everyone. Ok, now I am rambling. Just felt compelled to share my heart.

Home Sweet NEW Home

We found out today that we got the house we REALLY wanted! I love it so much and cannot wait to move in! Hopefully we can close in the next few weeks and get moved in. YAY for us!

Before and after inside pics coming soon! My realtor laughed out loud when I asked her if I could go ahead and start stripping wallpaper and painting...hey, I had to ask! Of course the answer was a big, fat NO! : ) I am in House Heaven right now!

Bed Head

I walked in to get Colt up from his nap the other day and could not believe how wild his hair was...hi-lar-i-ous! It was too cute to not capture on film. His wife will love it one day! So I literally turned and RAN for my camera...

Usually all smiles after naptime
P.S. He is wearing one of the shirts his friend COLT PORTIS passed down to him! Love that!

Peas of Mind

I have made all of Colt's food homemade. I pureed all his fruits, veges, chicken, pasta...all of it. Then I made all of his chunky food and now all of his finger foods and table food. Well I thought it was time to break down and buy a few premade meals to make life a little easier when we are on the go, and to give me a break sometimes (for real!!!)! So I bought about 15 different Gerber and Beech Nut microwave meals. Colt loves my homemade mac and cheese (noodles with homemade cheese sauce), loves spaghetti, LOVES basically everything. So I buy all these yummy foods premade for him to try. Weeellllll, I was all excited about introducing him to this new fun food, and he thought it was the most disgusting thing he has ever put in his mouth. With each new container of food I would try he would literally gag and spit it out like it choked him! It was pretty hilarious, but come on! Seriously!?
So today I was in SuperTarget and ran across Peas of Mind that claims to be homemade. You just pop it in the microwave for 2 min and voila! So I thought, what the heck, let's give it a try. I actually put Colt's Carrot Risotto Puffet in the oven for 20min instead of microwaving thinking it may trick him better....and it did! He LOVED it! Thank you Jesus! I tasted it and I swear I would have eaten it for dinner too! Delish! Folks, we have a winner! They have all these different "Puffets" and even vegetable "fries." I am very excited about my new find and had to share! You can find it at SuperTarget and Whole Foods.

Pumpkin Patch Fun

Since Colt is too little to go trick-or-treating, we thought it would be fun to spend Halloween day at the pumpkin patch. We went to the Dallas Arboretum and it was paaaaacked. We had a great time, and Colt LOVED being outside for most of the day.

We wore our little pumpkin out!
Happy Halloween everyone!

One Year!

Pops was in town for Colt's birthday! Colt sure loves his Pops!
Pops bought Colt some cute fall and winter clothes. I love this hat!

This picture cracks me up! Colt had just woken up from a nap, so he has that sleepy look AND he knew I wanted him to smile AND knew that a flash was coming....so here is the final look...

YAY!!! FINALLY got the FRONT FACING carseat...makes a happier baby and momma! We were on our way to Gracie's costume party.

Colt's 1st Birthday

Colt had a GREAT first birthday! His party was at his great-grandpa's house. The weather could not have been more beautiful. It was in the 70s and gorgeous. We had a family party, think around 30 guests, and it was a ball! Of course we loved having dad, aka Pops, in town, as well as Julie and her man, John. I couldn't have done it without their help! Enjoy the pics!

I saw this banner for sale for $40 and thought, I could make that! So I enlisted mom and her cricket. She cut out the letters and shapes and I assembled. Cost like $4!
This was pre party. Wish I had a pic with all the presents there!

Me and the Birthday Boy! I ordered his jon-jon off of Etsy! I love it.

I have made birthday cakes for several friends and for awhile I was selling them for birthdays and showers. I have ALWAYS looked forward to making my own children's birthday cakes. So I have been planning this cake in my head for MONTHS, and it turned out really cute I think! I lined the border with gumballs and the dots are Starbursts and Airheads! And homemade strawberry cake.

Everyone was gathered around him cheering and taking pictures, which this little ham loved! He started squealing, laughing and clapping to entertain us all. He is a silly mess!

One thing this boy can do is eat! I knew he'd make me proud!
It was a fun day! I cannot believe my baby is one. It sure flies by. They say it takes a village to raise a child, and I cannot be more thankful for the village of family and friends God has blessed us with to help raise this sweet young man. He is the light of my life.
After a change of clothes (we put him in clothes he got at the party!!), he loved playing with his new toys!

I love you, Colty!

Birthday Itinerary Input?

I am planning Colt's 1st birthday party and don't know if it would be better to do the whole cake thing first then open presents OR presents then cake? We are eating lunch at the party, so do I need a break between lunch and cake for presents?? Deep, I know, but I like to have an itinerary! Suggestions would be much loved!

Kissing Cousins

Colt's cousin Hadley was born exactly 3 weeks after him. We got together for a play date on Monday and the kids were ADORABLE together. It was hilarious! They couldn't stop kissing! Big open mouth, wet, tongue kisses! Below, Colt is going in for another kiss!

Colt ate his lunch while Hadley was napping then helped her eat her lunch too!

Mommy and me

Enough of the cuddling mother!

Jordan had to put the child locks on our cabinets and Colt was right there to supervise! I guess he is already in awe of power tools.

My Little Pony

HALLOWEEN SNEAK PEEK!
My Colt is a little colt!!!

11 months

Sit down and be still long enough for a picture? Yeah right! :)

The only way I could get him to sit still was to let him brush his teeth. He LOVES his toothbrush. I have to give him his toothbrush while I change his diaper so he will be still!
I can hardly believe my BABY is going to be one in a couple of weeks. Man oh man how the year has flown by. Colt is the greatest joy I have ever known. I am so lucky to be his momma. Today I almost cried because he was just being so darn cute! I treasure every second God gives me with this precious boy. We are having a family party at his great-grandpa's house for his birthday. Granted, Jordan's family is GI-NORMOUS, so there will be about 40 people there! I can't wait to post pics from the party! I am busy planning away, but trying to keep it simple and stress free. I am very excited about making his first birthday cake. I sure do love my little dude!

Random Happenings

Well it's been a few months, so here are some pics to catch up on our world. Pretty much same ol', same ol' around here. Jordan is loving his job and doing great and still playing music. Colt is getting SO BIG and SO HILARIOUS! I have so much fun with him every day. (Lots of "so"s in there!) Chasing him and catching up on house stuff while he sleeps leaves little time for blogging it seems. I am rushing now too, because I don't think he will let me sit here on the computer for much longer. : ) So enjoy the pics and maybe a better update soon.

I am trying to wait to get his first haircut on his birthday, but it's getting pretty wild!

Look at those curls
Love the scrunched up nose face!

Loves him some spaghetti!
Since my last post I graduated with my Masters in Educational Administration.

ROAR!!!
