5 Month Fun Facts

5 months brings lots of "firsts"....and it's only been a week!

1. Colt got his first tooth!!! 

2. We celebrated his great grandpa's 86th birthday

3. First time in your high chair!

4. Started solids...a few days of rice cereal then onto momma's homemade purees. This was Colt's first REAL food....carrots. (Jordan and I think he looks like my dad in this pic.)

5. I finally got to make your baby food! MY NEW FAVORITE STORY: So I was making Colt sweet potato puree. Jordan walks in and asks, "Is that stuff good?" To which I reply, "Heck yeah, it's good. Try it." So he takes a big ol' bite and says, "Ummm! That's how I want my sweet potatoes next time! " So I said, "Hmm, it must be the BREAST MILK!" He started gagging and about died, but, man, I am STILL laughing!!!! HAHAHA

6. First time in a restaurant high chair. Such a big boy!

7. I keep finding you in your crib laying sideways!

8. Colt can hold a rattle.

9. Whatever is in your hand he will reach for it to explore! 

10. Colt loves the baby in the mirror! It's sooo cute!

What a fun first week of 5 months! So much has happened already! I am so in love with Colt it is unbelievable. What I cannot believe is that I will have a 6 month old in a few weeks!! WHAT!?

Signs of a Bad Economy...

So the other day Jordan and I ordered a pizza from Papa Johns. Jordan just loves to eat those peppers that come with the pizza (yuck!). Well, the pizza came, and Jordan took it to the kitchen to plate us up some slices. From the living room I hear, "No way! Well, honey, I guess this is when you know the economy has gotten bad." I walk into the kitchen to see Jordan looking gloomily at that pitiful pepper that came alongside the pizza. We both busted out laughing... and I ran to get my camera!

Fun with Grammy and Pops

Well, I am officially addicted to Facebook and have abandoned by blog till now. Last month Colt and I went to Tennessee for a week. We had a blast seeing everyone and getting to introduce my sweet boy to friends and family. Colt was a trooper the whole week and barely fussed.... which he rarely does anyway.

The week we got back from TN mom and dad headed this way. We spent a day at the Arboretum planning to take pics of Haley and Colt together. HA! There is a reason we PAY people to do that! The best pics ended up of them with their Grammy and Pops! Thank goodness we are getting professional pics next month!

Colt was an angel on the plane both ways! The flight attendants LOVED him. One of them thought she should take our picture, which I am so glad she did! Now his first flight is on camera! I was about to wet my pants on the plane and finally decided I better figure out a way to hold him in that TINY restroom before I had an accident, seriously. On my way to the back of the plane this sweet older man goes, "Can I help you out?" I mean, come on, there is no where he could go with Colt! There were only like 30 people on our flight anyway. So I was like, "Really?! Would you hold him for just like 1 minute while I run to the restroom?" He said he'd love to! When I got out the flight attendants had him just cooing and ohhhing over him! It was a hoot! The man goes, "I only had him for like 5 seconds!"

We went to the Dallas Aquarium and Colt loved looking at the fish in the tunnel.

Mom and I spent a day in Columbia with Cristie, Lola, Elizabeth, Bella, and Mary Kate. We all went to lunch then shopping at Itty Bitty. What a DANGEROUS store! : )

Four Months

Just when I think he can't possibly get any cuter, he goes and learns a new trick that makes me melt! He is now reaching for things and can sit by himself! WOW! And the laughing, oh the laughing!!!! I love to get him tickled! It's hilarious!

25 Things

1. jordan and i sleep in a FULL size bed. it gets worse....one of the pieces broke on the bed so now we just have mattresses on the floor. OMG! i don't know how much longer i can take it!! we need some space...and a headboard!  

2. i hate coffee and wine, but want so badly to like them! they seem so sophisticated.

3. i am 2 months away from graduating with my masters in school administration.  

4. i loved teaching, but being a stay at home mom is the BEST job ever! i couldn't bear to miss a day of my sweet colt!  

5. i miss my lipscomb friends. I wish i could just have one more day with them like it used to be!  

6. 2 things i am ALWAYS thinking about: losing weight and cleaning the house.  

7. i hate cleaning and laundry, but love nothing more than a clean house. so i'm telling you, one day i WILL have a maid!!!  

8. i loooove to cook and bake. it would be so cool to be a food network host.  

9. i talk to my mom pretty much every day. other than jordan, she is my best friend.  10. sometimes i stay in my pjs all day. and then right before jordan gets home from work i run and put on regular clothes b/c i feel guilty!  

11. i don't remember anything about movies that i have seen. i couldn't quote a movie if i had to!  

12. my fave tv shows are desperate housewives and brothers and sisters  

13. i can't sing....at all. it's bad.  

14. i wish i was a dancer on dancing with the stars.  

15. i want 3 or 4 kids.  

16. jordan and i need more date nights. (we had one last weekend and it was a blast.) but now with a baby you feel like you need to hurry home!  

17. i cannot wait for my parents to move here from tennessee. there is nothing like having your own mom around when you have kids.  

18. i make the bed every day.  

19. i have become much more shy and intimidated over the last few years than i used to be. i wish i wasn't.  

20. my fave musicians (other than my husband of course) are norah jones and lyle lovett  

21. i CANNOT wait to lose this baby weight! just joined the gym last week. grrrr.  

22. i could easily live without a tv. we don't even have cable! i go days without turning it on.  

23. i hate to be cold  

24. my hair used to be WAAAAAAAAY more curly. i don't know what happened!? i miss my curly hair!  

25. i am scared of birds and squirrels. you never know when one might attack!

I love my Valentine!

Oh let me count the ways....

1. Jordan has the biggest heart. He genuinely cares about other people. Just the other day he got a homeless lady dinner and bought her a night to sleep in a hotel. He's amazing.

2. He loves to buy me things! How awesome is that!? He loves the presents as much as I do!

3. He buys me flowers....frequently.

4. He always says I'm right.

5. He leaves me sweet messages on mirrors (even my rearview mirror in my car).

6. He tells me I am beautiful every single day. Even though I sometimes say "whatever", I really appreciate that, honey!

7. He helps do the dishes and always takes out the trash....and sometimes he even does other chores.

8. He knows when I am tired or in a mood and is ok with it! 

9. He is the most gorgeous man I've ever known. I mean, come on, he's HOT! 

10. He loves me and Colt with all his heart. What more could I ask for?

I could go on and on, but Colt is crying so I better go get him. I love you, Jordan! 

Picture Happy!

I just posted like a million pics, but they are all so cute! Our little family went to Austin for the weekend for my birthday...the big 2-9. I was nervous about Colt not sleeping in an unfamiliar place, but he was a champ! His GranSal and Grandfather bought him a playpen for Valentine's day and he loved sleeping in it. He is now a night sleeper! He actually sleeps 8pm-8am. I know, that is amazing, but I swear by the Baby Whisperer book. I have followed it step by step and he is doing and sleeping just as the book says! He is pretty much weened off his pacifier too (goal is by 4 months). He is just the grandest baby ever. And this was the best birthday because I spent all morning holding him!

Okay, yes, we still love Sophie too! Before I had Colt I used to imagine how much I would love him because I couldn't imagine loving more than I loved Sophie. Well now that is funny to me. It doesn't even come close to comparing, but I still love my girl!

He found his thumb! Now he wakes up with scratches on his face every morning from his fingers.

I know I am his mother, but I just can't get over his cuteness! We are excited about our trip to Tennessee next week, but sure will miss daddy!
